Tawny's Bio
I am a Tupelo native, although I lived in Mesquite, Tx., briefly, in the mid-80's.
I began as a part-timer on KZ103 in 1987, at the age of 18. Boy - it seems like a lifetime ago! I've spent my entire 20 year radio career with KZ103! I've worked just about every shift on the station. I started out on overnights, progressed to nights, afternoons, mornings (running kidd Kraddick) and now, I do middays (10am until 3pm).
I married my husband, Johnny, in Oct. of 2005. Sometimes they say what you're looking for is "right under your nose..."

Apparently, that proved to be true for me! Johnny and I had known each other about 17 or 18 years before we started dating! Next thing ya know...we're getting married! I'm proof that you should never give up on finding the right person!

Favorite hobbies of mine? Right now, it appears to be cooking.  I love to try new things, although lately I don't seem to have much time to experiment! Mostly, I enjoy attempting to create new desserts! Pretty much anything sweet and fattening - I love! I also love to read. Some great books I've recently enjoyed  include "Marley & Me" and "Life of Pi."

Blogging is something I've been doing more and more these days. You can read my blogs on my MySpace page.

I've been a baseball fan  for years (Braves), though I haven't kept up with it as much recently. At the moment, my husband is attempting to introduce me to the wonderful world of football so he'll have someone else along to cheer on his beloved Cowboys!

I also love music from the 70's and 80's - especially "hair bands!"

Johnny and I have one "child," a very fat cat named Zoe.   He has spoiled her rotten and she absolutely adores him!

Okay, I gotta say, I'm pretty much over the heat and humidity and soooo ready for Fall this year! Actually, it is my favorite season - and how can it not be!

- It's the return of football (okay, admittedly, I never used to care a thing about football. It's funny the changes that can happen when you get married), and I picture weekends with my hubby on the couch pigging out on my home-made salsa while watching the Cowboys play.

-It's that little "nip" in the air. Well...okay....at the rate we're going there won't be any "nip" until November, but a girl can fantasize, can't she!

-It's my anniversary! I wanted a fall wedding because of the fact that I am heat intolerant, and we were married two days before Halloween. So, when I think of Oct., I think of friends and family...wedding cake....bubbles....flowers....and the most wonderful day of my life.

-Halloween!! Oh yes -  I am a total kid when it comes to Halloween! If I could still get away with trick-or-treating, I would! We buy tons of candy every year for the same 3 kids that come to knock on our door, lol!! Then, of course, we pig out on the rest while we watch Halloween (the original, and the ONLY horror movie I will watch).

-The beginning of the holiday season. It's never too early to start planning for Christmas, is it? I love the holiday season and all the planning that goes into it, no matter how exhausting it tends to get each year! I love planning how many treats I'm going to make for co-workers, friends, family & neighbors.

I hope you enjoy Fall as much as I do. Just in time for not only Fall, but this weekend's games, I thought I would share my easy salsa recipe with you!!

Salsa

2   10oz cans Ro-Tel Tomatoes, do not drain   (I use mild because the onions give this recipe plenty of heat for me!)

1   14 1/2 oz. can whole tomatoes (I usually drain off the majority of the juice)

1/4 cup diced yellow onion

3/4 tsp garlic salt

1 tsp cumin

1/4 tsp sugar

I pulse this all together in my food processor. Tastes even better after sitting in the fridge overnight!!! Enjoy!
